Creative-NATION is an eight week after school creativity project for students in grades 5-8. This project has been designed to develop creative minds by using Sparks of Genius as a framework to explore 13 transferable creative thinking skills. Each week, students work to complete cumulative challenges, which lead to the development of a new nation while developing pairs of creative thinking skills. To provide a process for completing each challenge, students will use the Design Thinking framework modeled by the Stanford University Institute of Design. Within the Design Thinking process, students will work through 6 steps to explore and innovate different aspects of culture, pertaining to their nation’s context. The project concludes with a public display of achievement for all participants involved.
